Elements in a family or group have similar chemical activities because they have the same number of electrons in the outer energy orbital. The families within the periodic table are introduced with special attention to the halogens and oxygen families by focusing the activities and experiments on these families. The activity kit comes with two laboratory exercises, a reproducible lab manual, an assessment manual, and enough materials for four setups.
